Ahmedabad International Kite Festival

The International Kite festival of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India is held every here from 11th January to 14th January from 1989 onwards. For the last 20 years, the kite festival has usually attracted about 250 to 300 kite fliers from various countries.

This year (2009) near about 256 kite fliers from 32 countries participated at Ahmedabad for the International Kite Festival.

The unique part of the festival is that dozens of cities, 100s of towns, 1000s of villages migrate to roof tops to fly kites! Near 40 to 45 million people participate in the kite festival. Millions of people come to see & meet the International kite fliers. The Gujarat is one of the kite capitals of the world. This happens only in Gujarat!
