Skewer kites - need more info

Q:

I want to get many bamboo skewers for a class we are teaching and I'm not finding the exact info on them. All I know about are the sish kabob skewers that don't seem long enough for a kite.

A:

Assuming you are from the US, you just need to find 12" BBQ bamboo skewers. If you would prefer to make larger kites than this, try any of the 2-Skewer designs on this site. For example, the 2-Skewer Diamond. If you can't find any 12 inch skewers, then making a 2-skewer design from 8" skewers would also work. That's why all measurements are in SL (skewer lengths).

If desperate, you could try online and probably pay more for the shipping than for the skewers themselves! For example, try this link, for packets of 100 12" bamboo skewers...

PreparedPantry.com

And then, I found this one which actually promises FREE US shipping on ALL orders!

BestPriceGrills.com

Finally, you can look them up on Amazon.com.

However, I think if you look around and simply try a few more supermarkets, you should eventually come across 12" skewers. I can't be sure about it though, because I'm over here South Australia and have never been to the U.S.!

Hope this helps.
