Q:
Hello, I'm looking for Coyne kite plans to build from scratch with my daughter. It is a beautiful looking kite that I think we would enjoy making.
Many thanks,
Michael and Aliana.
A:
I have found just the place for you to find a range of suitable plans.
Go to the top-right of the page and type conyne into the white edit box, and click the search button. Two n's in the word, by the way ;-)
Up will come a whole range of Conyne kite plans, some of them in languages other than English! You will see simple Conyne Box kites, Double Conyne kites (sometimes called Twin Conynes), a mention or 2 of the old French Military kite that is essentially a simple Conyne, plus a few Delta Conyne kites which are particularly popular these days. I have a sneaking suspicion that you might be after plans for the Delta type!
There seem to be about 12 of the Deltas, including a couple of Doubles, which would be more of a bother to construct.
There are a few curious variations on the Conyne in there too, that would not necessarily fly any better than the simplest type.
Have fun, and if you remember, feel free to post a photo and story back on this site one day. See the YOUR kites link over there on the left.
