Kite Making Books

Where Can You Find A Great Selection?

Amazon of course, with which My Best Kite is associated! Many good kite making books are available from this online book store, via the store-front below.

You will notice that some of these books about kites are quite old. Thankfully, when it comes to kites, that doesn't necessarily matter at all! The most popular and basic designs have barely changed over the years. The instructions regarding shape, construction methods, bridle adjustments and so on will still result in a good performing kite. In fact, if you substitute more modern materials such as carbon spars and Tyvek sails, your creation might very well fly better than a cheap bought one of similar design!

Some of the not-so-cheap books have been published more recently. These books give detail on how to reproduce some of the fantastic creations you might see at a modern kite festival. By general book standards, I don't think you would call any of the books 'expensive'!

Making kites is a great hobby, which offers a very large choice in which way to go.

  • There are just so many different types of kites, for a start
  • Also, the sophistication ranges from knocking together tiny simple paper kites for kids right through to building and sewing a complex high-performance 2-line sport kite
  • You can get your thrills from how kites fly (like me!) or instead make your kite a canvas for great art

I hope one of these books helps to satisfy your itch to create a personal kiting masterpiece!
