A 2-Click Questionnaire...

Not counting the optional bits. But it's still a very quick questionnaire. I hate them too, but you can't do much better than just 2 multiple-choice questions heh? :-)

Quick and cheap is the MBK way. You know that already, but perhaps my current books don't quite appeal. In which case, have a quick look below...

"6 Very Simple Kids Kites" Ultra-basic Diamond, Delta and Sled in 2 sizes each. Sails and long tails cut from large plastic bags. Enjoy spectacular flying in a wide range of wind strengths. 30cm (12") bamboo skewers used for the small ones and 90cm (36") wooden dowels for the larger ones. A list of ideas included for your child to add light-weight but colorful decoration to the sail. 3 alternatives provided for making tails from sail plastic.
"Making 6 Colorful Dowel Kites" Sled, Diamond, Rokkaku, Delta, Roller and Box in eye-catching Patchwork, Verticals, Sunburst or Leading-Edge color schemes, and all sturdy enough for moderate to fresh winds. Fast no-sew construction using packing tape, 1.2m (4 feet) dowel spars and tough but light Tyvek sails.
"Make A Giant Sled, Delta, Eddy Diamond and Box Kite" Super quick-build in dowels, drop-sheet plastic and packing tape. No frills but they are awesome in the air! 2.4m (8 feet) spars, all wind strengths covered from Sled (light wind) through to Box (strong wind). Undo a tie or 2 and roll up for transport.
"Diamond Series" 4 Diamonds, ranging from 30cm (1ft) to 2.4m (8ft) spans. The biggest 2 have separate instructions for a light-wind and fresh wind version. Brightly colored Patchwork, Verticals, Sunburst or Leading-Edge color schemes described. The smallest 2 kites use bamboo skewers and cellophane panels joined with sticky tape. The others use dowel, Tyvek and packing tape. Simple to brush-paint with long-lasting acrylics.
"Delta Series" 4 Deltas, ranging from 30cm (1ft) to 2.4m (8ft) leading edge spars. The biggest 2 have separate instructions for a light-wind and fresh wind version. Eye-catching Patchwork, Verticals, Sunburst or Leading-Edge color schemes. The smallest 2 kites use bamboo skewers and cellophane panels joined with sticky tape. The others use dowel, Tyvek and packing tape. Simple to brush-paint with long-lasting acrylics.
"3 Fancy Kites For Kite Fanciers" 3 impressive large and complex designs. Even in dowels and plastic they take a while to build but are a real talking-point in the air! A huge 3.6m (12ft) Genki, 2.4m (8ft) Hargrave Box and 12-cell Tetra, which cover all wind speed scenarios. Low-cost no-sew construction in dowel, drop-sheet plastic and packing tape is described. Do your own line art in permanent marker to dress them up a bit perhaps. Stowable in 1.2m (4ft) packages for easy transport. Experienced kite-makers might like to do one or more of these kites as prototypes for a later project using more modern materials and techniques.
"Make It Fly Straight" Specific trouble-shooting tips and techniques for every MBK kite, from the smallest Skewer Kites to the largest Multi-Dowel designs. Never be frustrated again by a home-made kite that goes to one side and refuses to fly up high where it belongs!
